The Ultimate University Training Curriculum

The UU training program contains 2 separate and distinct levels based upon experience and ability.  Progressing is up to you, the individual.

Basic:
For the newcomer to the business.

We will instruct students on the basics of tie-ups, running the ropes, taking bumps (falls), becoming aware of the ring and hold-to-hold wrestling. These classes will begin with standard warm up drills that are designed to develop ring awareness, fluidity of movement, balance, and proper falling procedures. We will be demonstrating and teaching "B" moves from the moves list. Once moves are demonstrated and performed, they are combined to perform basic combinations. A major emphasis is placed on fundamental wrestling and striking (kicks, punches, chops, etc.) From day one, everything is taught with a heavy emphasis on psychology. From the day of enrollment at Ultimate University, the Student is taught to convey realism, conviction of character and from simple tie-ups to complex spots, to understand why he/she is doing each move and how it fits into the scope of a pro wrestling match. Newer Trainees are encouraged to closely observe more advanced students during more difficult drills. There is often as much to be learned by watching as there is to getting into the ring.

With consistent attendance, you will quickly raise your level, both in-ring, and in the understanding of performing as a pro wrestler. You will be able to identify and perform all basic moves. You will begin to work on basic "spots" (combinations) that emphasize how to open a match and the fundamentals of hold-to-hold wrestling. This is followed by working on "high spots" (advanced combinations), rest holds, cut offs, come backs, near falls (false finishes) and finishes. The practices are often concluded with participants working singles or tag team matches that consist of a 30 second "promo" interview and 3-8 minutes of wrestling. Once you've become more proficient, you will participate in these aspects as well. Again, Ultimate University instructs with a heavy emphasis on psychology. From the day of enrollment at Ultimate University, the Student is taught to convey realism, conviction of character and from simple tie-ups to complex spots, to understand why he/she is doing each move and how it fits into the scope of a pro wrestling match.

Videotape viewing and critique is occasionally an element of our classes, with video being evaluated from vantage points of in-ring physical performance and psychology.

From the time of its inception in 1998, Ultimate University has gained a worldwide reputation of fostering a friendly, cooperative environment. ALL ULTIMATE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS MUST MAINTAIN A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND CONDUCT THEMSELVES PROFESSINALLY, AT ALL TIMES.

Promo Class:

UU Students with consistent attendance who are showing marked progress, will be invited to attend "Promo Class." Learning promotional skills is a very important part of today's business. Through this in-depth promo class, you will learn all aspects of 'cutting a promo', i.e., talking on camera and n front of a live crowd to help build a story.  From developing your "character" and emoting with the right vocal inflection, to hitting cues and coming in on time you will learn the art of the promo; how to make your character and program compelling to the fan.
